Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290 12 MP Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290 12 MP features Intelligent Auto mode, a 28mm wide-angle lens, automatically detects 8 scene conditions and selects the appropriate camera settings. Face Detection captures faces more naturally and helps prevent blur. Also, now record high-definition videos in 720p HD and enjoy your memories on your HDTV.

A powerful 12.1-megapixel, 1/2.3-inch Super HAD CCD image sensor helps you capture gorgeous images with superb contrast and clarity down to the finest detail. With 12.1 megapixels, you can create stunning, photo-quality prints up to A3+ (13×19-inch) size, or crop your images and still come away with high-resolution shots.

The professional-quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 5x optical zoom lens brings distant subjects closer for great outdoor, sports, and travel photos.

A 28mm wide angle lens shows more of the scene you’re shooting, helping you capture more complete images when shooting indoor group portraits, expansive landscapes, or architectural scenes.

Generous 3.0-inch (230K pixels) Clear Photo LCD display features sharp, natural color that makes it easy to compose shots, read menus, and view photos, even in bright sunlight.

The BIONZ image processor delivers the high resolution and fast performance you expect from a Sony digital camera.

Unlike traditional auto mode, Intelligent Auto (iAuto) thinks for you, recognizing scenes, lighting conditions, faces, and adjusts settings resulting clear images, faces with natural skin tone and less blur. Take advantage of all the technology without leaving Auto mode. Take a picture from a kid on the playground, to landscape shots, to a beautiful flower or an indoor birthday party.

Helpful consumer’s review
I bought this for my wife but I wanted something I could use to do more challenging type shots and videos. I was impressed it would allow for HD Video recording (720P). We took the camera on our vacation to Vegas and the Grand Canyon. It did a great job. The quality of recording and picture was outstanding. I was a little disappointed that I could not zoom while recording video (could zoom in while paused and re-start recording) and also the auto focus seemed to “hunt” a lot when doing movie recordings. I would have liked more options for focus in the movie mode other than Auto and Fixed Infinity. Other than that it was a great camera.

This camera replaced an older Cyber-shot. I checked out lots of other sites and reviews of cameras before purchasing this one. And I am glad I did. It takes excellent photos, and is lightweight/small enough to carry in a pocket. Love the bronze color too!
