Kyocera S5R 5MP

Kyocera S5R 5MP Kyocera S5R 5MP with the Joneses. It’s about keeping up with the action. Life just seems to get faster and faster. So we made a camera that could keep up. The Kyocera S5R features our exclusive RTUNE technology that lets you shoot up to three pictures a second until your card is full (in continuous mode, using an optional high-speed memory card). So you’ll never miss the best moment waiting for your camera to catch up.

A bright, brilliant Kyocera f/2.8 3x zoom lens lets you get right up close to capture exactly the photo you’re looking for. And for added flexibility, a 3.7x digital zoom combines to give you the power of a 11x total zoom.

Faster start-up. Faster shutter response. Faster shot-to-shot times. Continuous shooting at 3.3 pictures per second until your card is full. And beautiful, virtually noise-free pictures. To see how our revolutionary imaging system ensures you’ll never miss a moment.

The S5R features a sophisticated 5 megapixel CCD for printing flexibility. Not only can you get 11″ x 14″ prints and larger, a 5 megapixel image can also be cropped tightly and still produce large prints.

Helpful consumer’s review
I primarily shoot medium format for portrature so I purchased the Kyocera S5R for the sole purpose of capturing my 5 and 7 year old son and daughter in action. I played around with at least a dozen digital cameras with my biggest gripe being the slow speed in which they operate. Moments with these high energy kids go by very quickly so I needed a camera that was very fast. The 5SR fulfils these needs. The startup time is fast and the shutter lag is nil. These features when combined with the endless 3.5 frames per second shooting means you will never miss that “definative moment.”

I can’t emphasize enough how incredible endless 3.5 Frames per second is. Imagine your child is at bat or getting ready to smash an overhead…before the ball is near them you just start shooting without having to worry about your “burst” of frames running out. I am having a ball with this camera!!!

The only problem I have encountered is the battery life. If you use a flash (which I hardly do) expect a very short session. For available light photography I get about 150 shots before getting low. I estimate a day at the Zoo would require three of the proprietary batteries Kyocera sells at about $42 a pop.
